About
GuardRailNow is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit running urgent public-facing campaigns to prevent AI extinction risk. Our bold, independent organization, based in Baltimore, is a voice outside the usual tech and academic worlds. We’re dedicated to bringing the urgent conversations about AI extinction risk to everyone and amplifying the message that powerful AI systems must be developed with AI safety guardrails—before it’s too late.
We exist because major AI developers are building systems that even they openly admit could end all human life, yet they don’t know how to control them. Their focus is on making AI stronger—not safer. Our mission is to change that, starting with public awareness and collective action to demand safer AI. AI that benefits humanity now, and in the future.
Founded by Peabody Award and multi-Emmy Awards winning journalist John Sherman, we keep our messaging fearless, accurate, and urgent. Our vision is to make AI extinction risk a kitchen-table conversation across America.
With five distinct podcast series launching in 2025 through the AI Risk Network, we speak the general public’s language—bold, clear, and compelling.
From impactful podcasts and videos to micro-content, TikToks and long-form, we’re creating digestible media that meets people where they are—on YouTube, Instagram, Threads, Facebook, LinkedIn, and beyond.
Our voices are bringing AI risk to news outlets, academic forums, mainstream podcasts, events, and conferences—wherever minds can be moved.

World
We believe that an informed public can shift the course of AI development.
GuardRailNow’s theory of change is simple: education leads to awareness, awareness leads to pressure, and pressure leads to regulation. When people understand the risks posed by unregulated AI they’re more likely to demand safety legislation from their elected leaders.
By closing the public awareness gap through accessible media and clear communication, we aim to build the political will needed to enact real guardrails, while there’s still time.
